This Little Light of Mine

When we first moved into our house (almost two years ago), CJ’s nursery was, well, just blue.  We had a rather sizable ‘to do’ list for her room that we were hoping to finish up before she was born.

  • Install board and batten
  • Paint walls gray
  • Paint board and batten white
  • Make curtains and put up curtain rod
  • Find a rug
  • Reupholster chair
  • Paint changing table
  • Night stand
  • Hang chandelier
  • Clothing storage

before we bought it
Sophie approves!
JD and I did the board and batten ourselves (while I was 9 mos preggo I must add),  we had painters paint, my mother and I worked on the chair (it still has a tiny bit more to do), she also helped me with the curtains,

circa blue walls...
the blue is slowly disappearing

ready for furniture
I added the blackout lining to two of them (again, one more to do), I found a great rug off of craigslist, my good friend Heather painted/distressed a nightstand for us, I found a closet of sorts for CJ’s clothes off of Cragislist (JD thinks knows I’m addicted),

I added a rod for clothes

and finally JD helped me install a chandelier I picked up at a garage sale a few years ago.

gone but left with an unpainted area
Chandelier is up...but does it work?

and we have light!

up close and personal
I have been in love with this chandelier since I bought it.  I actually have two and bought them both for $10.  I’ve had to do a little tweaking…..re-wire….prime….paint….etc.  One is, of course, in CJ’s room and the other I wired to be a lamp and is sitting in my hobby room waiting on me to find the perfect spot for it.

I am loving the chandelier in the nursery and can’t wait to finish up the rest of the ‘to do’ list.
